I already have a winter set. Can you put them on?
That is most of our October and November work. Bring the winters — on rims or loose — and we put them on, balance them, and torque the wheels. Pickering drivers do this every fall at the Whitby shop.
Time to put the winter tires on in Pickering. 411 Drives mounts your winter set — or a new one — at 1020 Dundas Street East in Whitby.
Putting winter tires on in Pickering is the job we do all through October and November. If the set is already on rims in your garage, we swap and balance. If the winters are loose, we mount them, balance them, and put them on the car.
Pickering is further west, past Ajax. Liverpool Road, Brock Road, Whites Road, and Kingston Road are the main corridors. The drive to the shop is a straight run east on the 401 to Thickson or Brock, then south to 1020 Dundas Street East.
Do it before the first morning you need them. Liverpool Road, Brock Road, Whites Road, and Kingston Road are predictable: the temperature drops, the rain turns, and every shop in Durham is full. A booked changeover beats a cancelled commute.
The Pickering waterfront and the ridge north of Kingston Road do not get the same snow. Wet, heavy snow by the lake and harder packed snow inland both punish all-season rubber once the air stays below 7°C. A Whitby appointment still beats waiting for a closer shop that is booked solid the week of the first storm.
We also catch the tire that should not go back on. A puncture that held air all summer can let go at highway speed in January. If the tread is down to the wear bars or the sidewall is cracked, we will show you and quote a replacement before those wheels leave the shop.

We will show you the tread and the sidewalls before they go on. If they are not safe for another winter, we can quote a new set the same visit instead of sending you back onto the 401 on tired rubber.
Yes. A seasonal swap that skips the balancer is how you get a steering-wheel shake at highway speed. Balancing is part of putting the winters on.
